Adriana Nitu is an Architect MAA and Sustainability Professional, currently based in Denmark. Working at the intersection of design, technology, and sustainability, Adriana is on a mission to merge creativity and sustainability, driven by purpose, while sharing her creative process, journey, and resources. Her multidisciplinary education and experience with Architectural Design, Architectural Technology, and Leadership for Sustainability make her a curious, courageous, and very structured person.
For the past 7 years, Adriana has worked on various project sizes and typologies, ranging from small residential or commercial buildings to highly complex educational facilities, urban studies, or cultural and social initiatives. Adriana brings a multidisciplinary array of professional experiences, with a full spectrum of tasks and responsibilities from a mix of design, architecture, manufacturing, and engineering firms.
As her career progresses, Adriana hopes to continue investigating the intricacies of the human condition in the built environment through design, architecture, and innovation. In doing so, she believes that we can collaboratively create enduring artifacts that can positively respond to the current climate emergency, and proactively craft solutions that sustain our life on this planet within the planetary boundaries.

My story
Driven by passion
Since I held a pencil in my hands at the age of 11, I've been captivated by the transformative power of art, and later on of architecture. Growing up next to my father, who worked in construction, I heard stories of the people who designed the spaces he built. Their passion and dedication ignited a fire within me and so, I embarked on a path that led me to a High School of Arts, where I honed my skills in perspective, spatial understanding, and the interplay of light and shadow. It was during those formative years that I discovered my calling.
My educational journey took me from Denmark to Sweden and back to Romania, where I pursued a bachelor's in Architectural Technology and later a master's in Leadership for Sustainability. But I wasn't done yet. Determined to marry my architectural prowess with sustainable practices, I went on to obtain a master's in architecture, specializing in interior architecture. Today, as an Architect MAA, I am ready to make a difference in the way we design, plan, and build our spaces.
Embracing core values
Honesty, transparency, curiosity, and thinking outside the box form the foundation of my work. I value honesty as a means to create genuine connections and challenge the status quo. Transparency allows us to celebrate our individual journeys and learn from one another. Curiosity drives me to stay at the forefront of industry advancements, ensuring that my designs address our most pressing challenges. And by thinking outside the box, I find innovative solutions that push the boundaries of what's possible.
Designing with purpose
I take pride in my open-minded, context-based approach to architecture. By challenging local narratives with global solutions, I believe we can do our part in contributing to change on a larger scale. Context-based solutions are at the heart of my work, as I harness the inherent possibilities of each site. Nature's resources and biophilic design inspire me to create spaces that foster our connection with nature and the environment around us. Going back to natural materials and the way we used to build generations before, shows once again the power of knowing our history and applying solutions that already exist, transformed for a better fit with the current needs. For me, architecture is a medium to shape the lives and well-being of individuals, surpassing mere trends or aesthetics.
My journey so far
Throughout my career, I've worked on projects of varying scales, from small renovations to multi-story mixed-use buildings. I've delved into the design of bespoke furniture solutions that seamlessly merge functionality and aesthetics. Additionally, I've initiated sustainable urban mobility and affordable housing projects, leveraging existing structures before considering new construction.
My dedication and collaborative nature have earned me recognition and respect in the industry. I've been honored with awards for academic excellence and innovative design solutions. I've had the privilege of working alongside renowned organizations such as Vilhelm Lauritzen Architects and FLSmidth. Currently, I'm leading sustainability efforts at Taasinge Elementer, spearheading their transition towards a more sustainable future.
